Emily McElwreath

Emily McElwreath is an art advisor, curator, educator, and brand consultant with over eighteen years of experience in the contemporary art world. She is the founder of McElwreath Art Advisory and the host and CEO of The Art Career Podcast, a platform dedicated to transparent conversations in the creative industry.

Emily has curated exhibitions and organized lectures, panels, and public programs at leading institutions, including The Whitney Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Sotheby’s Education. As the Director of Communications and Education at The Brant Foundation, she spearheaded major educational initiatives and worked on exhibitions featuring Andy Warhol, Julian Schnabel, and Nate Lowman.

Beyond her curatorial work, Emily has been a guest critic at institutions such as Pratt Institute, the School of Visual Arts, and the Wassaic Project. She has also spoken at NYU (alongside Jerry Saltz), the Neuberger Museum (with Marilyn Minter and Jasmine Wahi), the Met Breuer, and the Whitney Museum.

Committed to fostering meaningful connections between artists, collectors, and institutions, Emily continues to curate exhibitions featuring both emerging and established artists. She is currently preparing to curate an exhibition at Ucross Foundation, opening on Founders Day 2025.

She is a participant in Pratt>Forward, a mentorship program led by Mickalene Thomas and Jane South, supporting emerging artists. Additionally, Navigating the Art World: A Practical Guide for Artists—a resource designed to equip artists with the tools to successfully build their careers—is now available.

Emily’s expertise spans museum-quality collections, institutional engagement, and cultural programming, making her a sought-after voice in the art world.
